Allan Johnson

I'm Allan Johnson, singer, songwriter and musician currently living in Meaford, Ontario. It's a long long way from Nassau where I grew up and began my musical career. These days I spend the majority of my time writing new song lyrics, creating melodies to accompany them and then developing musical tracks in my home studio that bring those new songs to life.

I'm a self-taught musician who was lucky enough to be a member of a  local band in Nassau. We played parties and then branched into a show band playing gigs in Eleuthra, Andros and Long Island. We thought we were something else because a friend with a plane flew us into those distant island locations.

Lovers Holiday Club hired us on a regular basis for seven years and we changed our band name to Johnny and the Go Go Boys. I did most of the singing along with a female singer, Lolita Smith.

Our big break came when The Pink Pussycat Club (a very upscale dinner/nightclub) hired the band for the next three years.

Eventully I went solo at The Balmoral Beach Hotel on Cable Beach. Soon after I worked with two other musicians at The Ambassador Beach Hotel also on Cable Beach. It was there that I met and married a lovely Canadian tourist. We remained in Nassau for a year before heading off to Canada to continue our life together.

Early on I managed to land a job entertaining at a Toronto restaurant called The Bahamian Kitchen.

These days I spend my time entertaining at festivals, doing concerts to raise funds for the local library and creating new songs for my upcoming album.
